Noj walked past the ATV and stepped down a hidden hatch without offering a glance back.

Zaria knew where Noj was descending—down into the caverns and networks of tunnels that had served as the Thieves’ base of operations for decades. That had served as her home for over twenty years.

She hadn’t returned since her capture and imprisonment over a month ago. And, knowing Callum’s cautious nature, she was sure he had evacuated not long after her arrest, leaving the tunnels and the caverns void of the life that had once filled them. No more boisterous laughter and conversation and argument. No more drunkenness. No more sparring or building or fucking.

No more Zayn down there for her to sit and watch and admire. No more Kieran to pick fights with. Could she bear the idea of gracing that haunted territory?

Noj slipped into the darkness, descending the ladder.

What if nothing had changed? What if her bed remained unmade, the sheets dusty with neglect?

She bit her cheeks, spurring herself into action. Take the ATV and leave, or return to an abandoned home?
